On this Date in Minnesota history: August 4

August 4, 1848 – “After the creation of the state of Wisconsin, the area of today’s Minnesota is left without law or government. Concerned Stillwater citizens hold a meeting to discuss the matter and decide to issue a call for a convention to be held on August 26th to develop a plan of action.”
