On This Date in Minnesota History: September 26

September 26, 1857 – Frederic William Tepel and his wife Frederica Wilmina are listed in the 1857 Minnesota Territorial Census living in Township 33, Range 21, in Chisago County on this date, in what is now Wyoming, Minn. The spot where their home was located, the first structure built in the area, is marked by a memorial stone.

Centennial Park

Site of one of the first homes built in Wyoming. Founded in 1855. Land donated by Stanley and Helen Struble for a community park in memory of her grandparents, Mr. &  Mrs. F. W. Tepel. An early pioneer family who occupied the home.
