On This Date in Minnesota History: March 19

March 10, 1988¹ – Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox, the roadside attractions on the southern entrance to the town of Bemidji, Minn., were placed on the National Register of Historic Places on this date.  “The statues have been hailed by the Kodak Company as the ‘second most photographed statues in the United States,’ behind only Mount Rushmore in South Dakota.”<sup>2
