On This Date in Minnesota History: July 17

July 17, 1980 – The brick Delvic Hotel building was constructed in 1922 by the Oliver Iron Mining Company and used as a commercial building. At one time it housed a bank and tailor shop on the street level, a church in the basement, and hotel rooms upstairs. Today it is occupied by China Buffet (the historic bank safe is still there) and Northwood Mechanical Inc. The Delvic Hotel was named to the National Register of Historic Places on this date.
