On This Date in Minnesota History: February 8

February 8, 1920 – Vaudeville and motion picture stars Francis X. Bushman and his wife actress Beverly Bayne were in Minneapolis today. Miss Bayne, who was born in Minneapolis, spent the day renewing old acquaintances, coming back late this evening before she had made “half her visits,” she said.

Bushman and Bayne, co-stars in several films, made scandalous news in 1918 after an affair the two had been having became national headlines. Bushman divorced his wife of 16 years (they had five children) to marry Bayne. The couple divorced in 1925.
