On This Date in Minnesota History: September 11

September 11, 1980 – The Ironton Sintering Plant Complex, a processing plant built in 1924 by Hanna Mining Company to turn low-grade ore mined in the Cuyuna Range into a higher-grade, marketable product, was placed on the National Register of Historical Places on this date.
