On This Date in Minnesota History: June 13

June 13, 1912 – Shattuck College, Faribault, Minn., was placed on the list of the ten distinguished military schools, according to a telegram received this evening by Dr. James Dobbin, director of the school. The designation carries with it the privilege of nominating an honor graduate as second lieutenant in the U. S. army without examination. Shattuck was in competition with 100 other schools.

The Minneapolis Morning Tribune; “Shattuck in the Spotlight. Classed as One of First Ten Military Colleges of Nation.”; June 14, 1912; p. 1.
