On This Date in Minnesota History: October 20

October 20, 1858 - Marine Township was organized on [this date], and absorbed Vasa Township in 1860. It was incorporated in 1875. Marine Township included May and New Scandia townships until 1893, making it the county’s largest township. The village was officially renamed Marine on St. Croix and incorporated in 1950.
