On This Date in Minnesota History: March 24

March 24, 1859 – “Samuel Frisby Snively was born [on this date]. A lawyer and Duluth's only four-term mayor (1921-1937), he was devoted to extending Rodger's Boulevard - later renamed Skyline Drive. A perennial bachelor, he loved children and provided an annual picnic for all orphaned children of Duluth at his personal expense.”
