On this Date in Minnesota History: August 28

August 28, 1965 – Mary Ann Titrud of Clarissa, Minn.,¹ was crowned 1965 Princess Kay of the Milky Way on this date. She and her court were the first regional Dairy Princesses to have their heads and shoulders sculpted “from a 64-pound solid block of top quality Minnesota butter”² in the dairy building at the Minnesota State Fair.
