On this Date in Minnesota History: August 28
August 28, 1965 – Mary Ann Titrud of
Clarissa, Minn.,1 was crowned 1965 Princess Kay of the Milky Way on
this date. She and her court were the first regional Dairy Princesses to have
their heads and shoulders sculpted “from a 64-pound solid block of top quality
Minnesota butter”2 in the dairy building at the Minnesota State
Fair.
