On This Date in Minnesota History: May 6

May 6, 1965 — “Two F4 tornadoes hit Fridley [Minn.], and 13 people die as six tornadoes touch down in the Twin Cities.”1 This was also “the first time in Minnesota state history where civil defense sirens were used for severe weather purposes.”2
