On this Date in Minnesota history: July 15
July 15, 1917 – “Washington County’s National Guard unit, Company
K is called upon after the United States declares war on Germany. Because the
company only [possessed] 20 men, three recruiters [traveled] the county in
search of volunteers. The company [was] eventually assembled at the Stillwater
Armory with a total of 150 men.”
