On this Date in Minnesota History: August 10

August 10, 1887 – The first issue of the “Prison Mirror,” the newspaper of the Minnesota State Prison in Stillwater, was published on this date. Bank robber Cole Younger was associate editor.1

It was the first publication in America produced solely by inmates from inside a prison, and at 127 years and counting it is the oldest continuously published prison journal in America.2
