On This Date in Minnesota History: October 2
October 2, 1973 - The lake carrier Peter Robertson struck a pier on the Wisconsin side of
the Arrowhead Bridge on this date. The accident disabled the drawbridge lift
mechanism, and the bridge, which spans Lake Superior between Duluth and
Superior, Wis., was closed the next day.
