On This Date in Minnesota History: April 12

April 12, 1916 – The board of pardons decided this afternoon that Walter J. Smith, former Minn. State Treasurer, and R. C. Pickit, former clerk of the state investment board, must go to prison. They had pleaded guilty on charges of larceny and forgery, respectively.
