On This Date in Minnesota History: September 20

September 20, 1975 – On Season 6 of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, the episode “Mary Moves Out” first aired on this date. Mary moves from her old apartment in Phyllis’ (Cloris Leachman) house into Cedar Square West, the high-rise apartments on the West Bank in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis.¹ “Mary continued to be a resident of the building throughout the remaining two seasons of the series, which ended in 1977.”²

Now called Riverside Plaza, the apartments were placed on the National Register of Historical Places on Dec. 28, 2010.<sup>3
