On This Date in Minnesota History: May 12

May 12, 1975 Built in 1872-73, the Nicollet Hotel in St. Peter, Minn., was named to the National Register of Historic Places on this date. It cost $30,000 to build.

President Grover Cleveland gave a speech from the balcony of the Nicollet Hotel when he campaigned for president.
