On This Date in Minnesota History: May 30

May 30, 1913 – A Civil War monument located at 2nd St. and Clark Ave. in White Bear Lake, Minn., was dedicated on this date. “The monument lists the names of committee members responsible for the monument; they represent the Grand Army of the Republic, The Sons of Veterans and the local community. The names of the living and deceased GAR Post members are inscribed on another side. Around the base of the monument are the names of major Civil War battles, including Gettysburg, Vicksburg and Chickamauga.”1
