On This Date in Minnesota History: August 17

August 17, 1920 – Norwegian emigrant and Stillwater [Minn.] citizen Gustav A. Lund receives a patent for his new padlock. The lock [was cylindrical] in shape with a ‘slit-shaped key hole in one end.’" He received patent #1349682.
