On This Date in Minnesota History: May 24

May 24, 2006 – The Honeycrisp apple, “an apple cultivar developed at the Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station's Horticultural Research Center at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities,”¹ was adopted by the Legislature on this date as Minnesota’s State Fruit.<sup>2
