On This Date in Minnesota History: October 15

October 15, 2013 – Minnesota-native, former Gophers basketball star and Boston Celtics power forward, Kris Humphries sold the diamond engagement ring he had given to his ex-wife Kim Kardashian at a Christies’ auction in New York City for $749,000 on this date. Humphries had reportedly paid $2 million for the 20.5 carat engagement ring, and Christies had anticipated that it would sell for between $300,000 and $500,000.

“Christie’s noted in the auction listing that part of the proceeds from the auction was going to charity.”
