May 16, 1898 – “The Twelfth, Thirteenth, and Fourteenth Regiments
of the Minnesota Volunteer Infantry departed for training to fight in the Spanish-American
War. Only the Thirteenth saw combat, in the Philippines − 44 were killed and 74
wounded August 7.”
