On This Date in Minnesota History: July 18

July 18, 1911 - Stanley Manning, Superintendent of the Fire Alarm Service for the St. Paul Fire Department, died today in the line of duty from electrocution while repairing alarms wires at the State Fairgrounds. There was a high tension voltage on the wires where he was working.

It appears his death occurred in the forenoon; he was not discovered until this evening.

Manning leaves a wife and seven children.
