On This Date in Minnesota History: August 18

August 18, 1980 – The Duluth Winnipeg and Pacific Depot in Virginia, Minn., was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on this date. The depot was built in 1913 for the Duluth, Winnipeg, and Pacific Railway, which was a subsidiary company of the Canadian National Railroad. The depot was used until the late 1950's when it was converted to a bank.
