March
9, 1915 – Mrs. Iva Charleswood, St. Paul, was named the driver
of St. Paul’s first jitney bus today by T. J. Finney, who will shortly put into
service a touring car between downtown St. Paul and the Midway District.
Mrs. Charleswood announced that she would apply at once for a license with the State Chauffeurs Board. She says she does not know much about the internal mechanism of a car, but she does know how to drive; she’s been taking lessons for a week.
The Minneapolis Morning Tribune; “Woman the Chauffeur for First Jitney Bus to Run in St. Paul”; March 10; 1915; p. 2.
