On This Date in Minnesota History: October 26

October 26, 1960 – The American League approved the request of Calvin Griffith, president of the Washington, D.C., baseball team, the Senators, to move the team to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. The Senators became the Minnesota Twins, and the city inherited baseball legends such as Harmon Killebrew and Jim Lemon.
