On This Date in Minnesota History: March 25

March 25, 1918 – Hutchinson, McLeod County, continues to “carry on.” On the heels of news that two Hutchinson boys in the 161st field artillery had been slightly wounded in France, five high school boys came from Hutchinson today and enlisted as apprentice seamen in the navy. They are Clarence DeLong, Harry Telecky and Leland Rebstock, in the back row of the photo, and Emil Nelson and Donald Goodnow, seated. They are 18 years old.

All five young men survived the war.
